Buff Bagwell Files Lawsuit Against WWE

Marcus “Buff” Bagwell has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court of Connecticut against WWE over the WWE Network. Bagwell feels he is owed royalties from content featuring him on the Network.

Bagwell feels like the wording in his WWE contract in June 2001 means the royalties clause from his WCW contract carried over to WWE. His WWE contract reportedly reads “all prior understandings, negotiations, and agreements are merged into this agreement.” Bagwell’s June contract reportedly declared that he would get a percentage of the net receipts paid to WWE for the sales of WCW pay-per-views.

The lawsuit also argues that he’s owed residuals for pay-per-views he appears in on the WWE Network, and he says he his contract claimed he would be paid from sales on “technology not yet created.”

In an interview in 2015, Bagwell said he feels Jim Ross sabotaged his WWE career. He alleged that Ross started a rumor that Bagwell got his mother to call in sick to WWE management.

Bagwell hasn’t worked for WWE since his release in the summer of 2001.
