L’Équipe report that Spanish 2nd division side Sporting Gijon intend to purchase 28-year-old French defender Mathieu Peybernes from FC Lorient after an initial loan spell.

The Spanish club want to buy a player who made 29 appearances this season but view the option to purchase in the deal, €600k, to be too considerable, as they are in financial difficulties. A compromise is likely to be arranged as Lorient are not counting on keeping Peybernes.
