Video: James Ellsworth Signs WWE Contract Live During "Talking Smack"

On Tuesday night’s episode of the SmackDown LIVE post-show, “Talking Smack,” which airs on a variety of WWE platforms, including all of their social media channels, journeyman pro wrestler James Elllsworth became the latest unlikely official WWE Superstar.

Elllsworth, who signed on the dotted line to join the blue brand on Tuesday night’s, is essentially being promoted along the same lines as Daniel Bryan early in his WWE career where he was first portrayed as the “internet darling” before being used as a goofball, mid-card comedy character.

Eventually, due to his talent and growing fan support, Bryan broke through the ceiling and became WWE World Heavyweight Champion, winning the title after beating Triple H and then Batista and Randy Orton in a triple threat contest in the opening and final matches at WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

Obviously due to the comparison, Ellsworth has his work cut out for him now that he is officially part of the WWE roster.

Speaking of Daniel Bryan, the SmackDown LIVE General Manager was on hand to watch as Ellsworth signed on the dotted line to join the active talent roster for the blue brand, which the former leader of the “Yes! Movement” oversees as G.M.
